About twenty years at the desk
For roughly twenty years I worked as a designer and developer in Australian corporate offices: long screen days, mice, keyboards, and deadlines. I pushed through wrist ache, mouse arm, tech neck, and shoulder knots without really understanding what my body was asking for. Ergonomic chairs and standing desks helped a little, but they never gave me the map.
About ten years of learning on purpose
Inside that stretch, I spent about ten years travelling and studying how tension and ease move through the body. I pulled ideas from books, videos, short clips, courses, and conversations. Time with monks and teachers in places such as Sri Lanka and Tokyo shaped how I think about calm, breath, and showing up gently at work.
Every morning I train Siu Lim Tao, my favourite exercise, as part of Wing Chun, along with Ip Man lineage fan work, tai chi, and internal practice such as nei gong and qi gong. That is my personal routine, not something Desk Relief teaches. The app is the plain, beginner-friendly version I wished I had at the desk years ago.
Reading and faith that guide me
I love the Tao Te Ching, Sri Lankan literature, the Buddha's teachings, and the Jesus teaching to love one another. Those ideas sit behind why I built Desk Relief as a free gift: compassion, kindness, and service without preaching. The app itself stays secular wellness for everyone.
Why Desk Relief is free
I built Desk Relief for everyone to use at no cost: offline-friendly, no account, no ads. It packages what helped me into follow-along timers, breathing, and routines with plain language only.
At CHING7 I design and build apps and business portals for clients. Desk Relief is also a personal showcase of that craft: calm visuals, careful UX, and something useful you can open on a lunch break.
