Not Medical Advice

Desk Relief is an educational and self-care reference designed strictly for everyday comfort and minor muscle stiffness. The content, routines, diagrams, and timers provided in this application do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or physical therapy prescriptions.

Pregnancy and Labor Cautions

Some spots on the body are best avoided during pregnancy because firm touch in those areas may feel too stimulating. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant:

  • Avoid the web of skin between the thumb and index finger.
  • Avoid the top ridge of the shoulders.
  • Avoid the inner lower leg and ankle.
  • Always look for the Skip if pregnant warning badge in the app, and consult your obstetrician or midwife before trying any new bodywork.

Prohibited Areas and Contraindications

Never apply pressure or massage to the following locations:

  • Throat and Carotid Sinus: Never press on the front or sides of the throat or windpipe. Desk Relief deliberately excludes throat points.
  • Broken or Irritated Skin: Skip any area exhibiting cuts, burns, rashes, bruises, infection, or varicose veins.
  • Acute Trauma: Never apply pressure over fractured bones, recent sprains, active inflammation, or unhealed surgical sites.

Gentle Pressure and Personal Responsibility

Pressure should feel like a satisfying, dull ache or pleasant release. It should never feel sharp, electric, stabbing, or unbearable.

If at any point you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, numbness, or escalating discomfort, stop immediately, relax, and take slow sips of water. If chronic pain persists, seek immediate guidance from a licensed physician or specialist.
