"The classic desk knot. Rounded shoulders stretch this area all day, so a steady press may help it let go."

How to do it

Find the inner edge of your shoulder blade, about four finger widths out from the spine, roughly level with your armpit. Hug yourself to slide the blades apart and the spot gets easier to find. No reach? Put a tennis ball between your back and a wall or doorframe, lean in and bend your knees a little to roll it onto the spot. Or ask a friend to press with their thumbs. Hold still and breathe out slowly.

Safety note:Keep the ball off your spine. Lean in gently, you control the pressure with your legs. Tingling or numbness down an arm, or any chest pain, means stop and see a doctor. Skip broken skin, bruises, rashes or swelling.
